Activism & Community Efforts

We are committed to activism at the local, state, federal, national, and international levels. If you have something that you believe could use more attention, please send your write-up via email to [email protected], and we'll review it and post it if applicable. Keep in mind our community focus - but this is the place where we highlight things that need attention in our communities and show how you might be able to help. We do not report back with a list of what we do, only opportunities for help and the overall results of community efforts - our commitment here is not performative.

26 June 2024: A group of Indigenous people praying to honor exposed and desecrated American Indian burial grounds at the Bridgeview housing development in Cedar Point, North Carolina were attacked. They were unarmed. As they find their healing and determine what their next steps are, they will likely call for more assistance - until then, they've asked for prayers to assist and strengthen them at this time. MVP Southgate Extension: In our community, we care deeply for the preservation of land, sea, and sky - as well as the rights of Indigenous peoples and sacred spaces. The Mountain Valley Pipeline extension threatens to pollute sacred land in Virginia and North Carolina, especially the Haw River, digging up sacred burial mounds and Sacred Sites of the Occaneechi-Saponi people and places often used for sacred pagan rituals.

It threatens the clean air, water, and land of poor black and indigenous folks as well and increases the risk of landslides for over 225 miles - more than 74% of the proposed route. Please amplify Indigenous voices and raise your own voices in opposition to this proposed harmful action.
